Anti-Gay Group Claims Being Gay Causes Cancer, Compares Same-Sex Marriage To Sharia Law

A religious organization fighting same-sex marriage in Ireland has been telling outrageous lies.

Ireland will vote on same-sex marriage in May, and religious groups are pulling out all the stops – and stopping at nothing – to instill fear in the only way they can: by telling lies.

Last month, an unnamed religious group put out a pamphlet asking Irish citizens questions that included,

“Should children be exposed to sounds of sodomy?”

“Should children be exposed to this beastly obsession with unholy acts?”

“Should the sounds of sodomy echo in the halls of a Christian home?”

That failed campaign led to hilarious responses on Twitter, like this:

Undeterred, yet another religious group is now attacking same-sex marriage by telling lies.

The Alliance for the Defence of the Family and Marriage (ADFAM) has handed out pamphlets that claim being gay causes cancer, same-sex marriage is a “confidence trick,” the “average life expectancy of those in same-sex relationships is 60 years,” and children “who are adopted by couples/pairs other than by man + woman couples, are subject to 8 times more harm, and are 50 times more likely to die of injuries inflicted on them.”

Other lies claimed by ADFAM include “Voting for same-sex ‘marriage’ is like voting for Islamic-State-style ‘sharia law’.”

In another pamphlet, ADFAM falsely claims, “Homosexuality is a neurosis, and active homosexuality is an addiction,” and “Same-sex male unions last on average 1.5 years.” It also claims, “It is widely admitted now that no one is born homosexual.”

These false claims led to one Irish journalist detailing her experience with being handed one of the pamphlets, and then an hysterical campaign on Twitter called #ADFAMfacts, mocking the group that put out the hate-filled lies, ADFAM.

There were also tweets decrying ADFAM’s hate and lies:
