Santorum Labels Rival GOP Presidential Hopefuls ‘Bomb-Throwers’ With ‘Little Experience’
Rick Santorum is claiming the mantle of the most level-headed person in the GOP race to the White House.Â
Rick Santorum. The name conjures up an immediate connection among many Americans to an anti-gay activist, a religious right extremist, and a man who wants to curtail the civil rights of people for whom the Bible is not a life-map.
But now Santorum, having lost his Senate seat in 2006 by a huge, double-digit percentage, and having lost the 2012 GOP presidential nod to Mitt Romney, is climbing back into the news.

“Do we really want someone with this little experience?,†Santorum asked on Friday, the New York Times reports. The 56-year old Roman Catholic was referring to Republican Senators Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and Marco Rubio. And the only experience they have basically — not Rubio, but Cruz and Paul because I don’t think Rubio is going to go — is bomb throwing? Do we really want somebody who’s a bomb thrower, with no track record of any accomplishments?â€
Santorum also positioned Mike Huckabee as being “for climate change,” as in, believing man has had a had in global warming.
“We will pass on responding to his alleged wisdom,” an advisor to Ted Cruz responded. “Senator Santorum lost re-election in his home state by 18 points nearly a decade ago, and has spent the time since then trying to convince people to elect him to an even higher office than the one he was booted out of.”
Santorum, the Times reports, will announce his candidacy in spring or early summer, which means, it’s going to get interesting.
