Ken Ham Needs Tax Dollars To Build Ark Museum But Has Cash For Times Square NYE Billboard?
Creationism zealot Ken Ham is spending oodles of cash on a religion-themed video billboard in Times Square – just in time for New Years Eve.
Ken Ham, the conservative religious extremist who believes the only book man needs is the Bible, has been working hard all year trying to convince the state of Kentucky that his apologetics ministry, Answers in Genesis (AiG), deserves millions of dollars in taxpayer funds so he can open his second religious museum, Ark Encounter.
Ham, who made a name for himself by debating creationism vs. evolution with Bill Nye, is the creator of AiG, which runs the Creation Museum. But after months of back and forth, Kentucky recently refused Ham about $18 million – down from $73 million – after finally accepting the fact that Ham’s ministry would in fact discriminate in employment on the basis of religion.
Fresh off that fight, Ham has just announced AiG has leased a video billboard in the heart of New York City’s Times Square on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day to run a rather snide and nasty message.
“To all our intolerant liberal friends,” the 15-second video message will state, “Thank God for freedom. Brought to you by AnswersInGenesis.org and the First Amendment.â€
The ad will run starting today for seven minutes each hour on a billboard at 46th Street and Broadway.
“The :15 digital board will remind Americans of the religious freedoms they enjoy – whether they hold to the worldviews of Christianity, atheism, Judaism [or] other belief systems – and must be defended,†AiG reportedly stated. “In addition, the Cross of Christ will be prominently displayed.â€
Ham says he is “thrilled that the Cross of Christ will be seen in the most-watched place in the world on this day.”Â
