Twitter Is Certain Officer Who Killed Michael Brown Will Not Be Indicted By ‘Police State’
As the clock ticks toward a grand jury announcement, people on Twitter, regardless of their politics, are certain the police officer who killed Michael Brown will not be indicted.
The first sure sign was the length of time the grand jury has spent deliberating whether or not to indict officer Darren Wilson, the man who shot and killed 18-year old, unarmed, Michael Brown this summer.
The next sure sign was Missouri Governor Jay Nixon‘s press conference last week, in which many believe he intimated there would be no indictment because he warned against riots, protests, and violence.
But now, Gov. Nixon has just declared a state of emergency across the entire state of Missouri, without and indication of when, exactly, the grand jury will announce its decision.
In this heated run up to the announcement, folks on social media are angry, and many – if not the vast majority – believe Officer Wilson will walk free, without even having a trial.
(If he does, he will be reinstated “immediately,” according to the Ferguson Chief of Police.)
Here are some comments about the #policestate many feel exists in #Ferguson:

Not a conspiracy theorist, but #Ferguson calling State of Emergency before a grand jury verdict is announced pretty much says no indictment.

Nothing says “I respect your autonomy” like declaring a State of Emergency prior to anything even happening. #PoliceState #Ferguson

State of Emergency declared before verdict. I’m predicting that Wilson will not be charged and #Ferguson will flare up again.
