Updated: Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospitalized For Emergency Surgery
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was rushed to the hospital this morning for emergency heart surgery.Â
Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was rushed to the hospital last night after feeling ill during a routine workout. The 81-year old progressive jurist underwent surgery on her heart, during which a stent was installed in her right coronary artery. She is expected to recover fully and be released in two days, MSNBC reports. Ginsburg is a cancer survivor.
Think Progress notes that in “an interview published last September, she complained that if she were to resign, Obama ‘could not successfully appoint anyone I would like to see in the court.’ The impending Republican takeover of the Senate will make it even more difficult for Obama to appoint anyone with a similar record to Ginsburg.”
