Bachmann Backtracks On ‘Boring’ Same-Sex Marriage
Anti-gay Tea Party Republican Michele Bachmann is “clarifying” her comments that same-sex marriage is “boring” and “not an issue anymore.”
At this weekend’s Value Voter Summit, veteran journalist Michelangelo Signorile briefly spoke with Congresswoman Michele Bachmann. As The New Civil Rights Movement reported, he detailed that interaction via Twitter:
Michelle Bachmann just told me re: gay marriage, “it’s not an issue anymore,†runs off, adds, ‘In fact it’s boring.’ #ValuesVoterSummit

Almost immediately, some news outlets began reporting that the Minnesota Congresswoman who made hr political career by attacking the LGBT community had changed her tune.
Claiming “Michele Bachmann Backs Down on Marriage Equality,” the New York Observer surprisingly surmised the comments were “Bachmann’s way of saying that there are no votes in it for her to keep advocating against marriage equality.”
Of course, there are no votes for Bachmann, period. She is not seeking another term in office.
Lest anyone think the anti-gay hardliner has gone soft on same-sex marriage, Bachmann turned to the reliably incendiary World Net Daily to “clarify” her comments.
“What I said is that this won’t be the issue that drives the 2014 election,†Bachmann said. “I told the reporter it’s getting boring having them only press this issue with Republicans while ignoring Democrats.
“The media loves to divide us on this issue. They look for something all the time,†Bachmann told WND. “I said nothing different. I’m the woman who carried the traditional marriage amendment in Minnesota, and I stand firm in my belief that marriage should be between one man and one woman.â€
