Wanda Sykes Jokes Her New HRC T-Shirt Says ‘Up Yours Putin’ In Russian
var addthis_config = {“data_track_addressbar”:true};Wanda Sykes talked with Jay Leno last night about the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, and lamented the “criminal” treatment of Russia’s LGBT community. The 49-year old comedian and married mother of two also talked about the Olympics with the NBC host.
Leno tried to make a joke about a biathlon — which Sykes said combines cross-country skiing with rifle shooting — being an event about sex.
“You do a guy, then you do a girl…”
“No,” Sykes said, chastising Leno. “What the hell’s wrong with you? You’d never make it in Russia, ’cause you know they don’t go for that stuff in Russia.”
“All kidding aside,” Sykes continued, “it’s criminal what they’re doing to the LGBT community in Russia.”
She then accused Putin of putting out homosexual propaganda, for having his shirtless photo published. “If that’s not gay propaganda, I don’t know what is.”
Sykes says she wasn’t invited to join the President’s U.S. Olympics delegation, but she said, “What I will do is wear a t-shirt to support them. Human Rights Campaign they have a [t-shirt] out and the proceeds go to help them. And I brought one to you so if they ask you to go, you can say ‘No I’m going to wear a t-shirt.’â€
The t-shirt is in Russian, and Leno quipped that if you hold it up to the mirror you can read it in English.
Sykes said her tee says, “Up yours Putin,” but she aded, “don’t quote me on that.”
