Tea Party Congressman Steve King isn’t happy with Jan Brewer. After the Republican Arizona governor vetoed SB-1062, King, who serves the people of Iowa, went on a local TV news talk show and disparaged gays and civil rights laws, all in one fell swoop.
King, curiously thinks that entrepreneurs have “God-given rights that our founding fathers defined in the Declaration,” but gay people don’t have any rights.
Because being gay is a “self-professed behavior†and can’t be “independently verified.”
King, in 2012, said that gays should lie about their sexuality unless they want to risk being fired for being gay, which government can’t stop. An d in 2009, King wanted the name of the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Bill changed to the “Local Law Enforcement Thought Crimes Prevention Act of 2009,” because he doesn’t believe in the concept of hate crimes.
But apparently, King all of a sudden has forgotten all the thing he’s said about LGBT people, now that there’s a legal standard to be met.
“Although it’s clear in the civil rights section of the code that you can’t discriminate against people based upon …race, creed, religion, color of skin, those kinds of things,” Rep. King said, “there’s nothing mentioned in there on self-professed behavior, and that’s what they’re trying to perfect, is special rights for self-professed behavior, and I think it’s difficult for us to define a law that would protect behavior.”
“Difficult for us to define a law that would protect behavior.”
Let’s see how difficult that would be…
Oh yes, how about Arizona’s SB-1062, which would protect the behavior of discriminating against gay people, by people of faith — which is a “self-professed behavior†that can’t be “independently verified.”
These right wing Tea Party religious zealots just keep making this easier and easier and easier…

Fox & Friends Host Goes Berserk, Calls Reporters ‘Agents of Russia’ Over Report Intel Official Briefed Congress
Fox News is continuing to provide enormous spin for President Donald Trump. Earlier this week they twisted the news that Trump was angry an intelligence official briefed Congress on Russia attacking the 2020 election to help get him re-elected, by claiming “Trump Upset Over Kremlin Trying to Re-Elect Him.”
Check out how Fox News is framing reports that the president was angry that intelligence officials briefed Congress that Russia is helping to get him elected again:

On Friday a “Fox & Friends” contributor launched into an insane – and false – rant to attack reports about an intelligence official briefing Congress that Russia is attacking the 2020 election by calling the press “agents of Russia.”
After co-host Steve Doocy delivered a fairly accurate although highly-edited accounting of The New York Times report on Congress being briefed, Pete Hegseth went berserk.
“Alright let’s be clear about what this really all is. This is all an attempt to discredit President Trump. That’s it. Delegitimize him all the way. So that’s why he wins again.”
“Every single media member in that clip, every single Democrat that parrots what they’re saying, they’re working together, they are the agents of Russia.”
“This is what Russia wants! They want to sow discord and misinformation and delegitimize our republic, destabilize it because they’re not our friends and they know that when we’re strong they’re in a worse position – which they’ve done for years before President Trump. This is what they do. The Democrats, the media, fell for it.”
“They hate Trump so much they’re will to parrot what the Kremlin is saying.”
“They are the agents of Russia. Not Donald Trump, not this White House.”
Hegseth went on to say the media is blowing out of proportion “every single time there’s a tiny itty-bitty little new nugget which could be handled by our intelligence agencies, dealt with through leaders in our government.”
The irony of course is our intelligence agencies brought the information to leaders in our government. House Republicans were furious upon hearing the news – furious that they were being told the truth, and wanted to stomp it out. So Rep. Devin Nunes told Trump, who then fired his Director of National Intelligence.

Trump’s Intel Pick Will Blow Up in His Face as Agencies Revolt and Leak the Truth: Ex-CIA Official
Appearing on CNN on Friday morning, former CIA case officer Phil Mudd said the selection of Ambassador Richard Grennell to be the acting Director of National Intelligence will likely blow up in the president’s face because he is not respected within the intelligence community who will seek to undercut him.
Speaking with hosts John Berman and Alisyn Camerota, Mudd first mocked Grennell, saying, “I tell you, this is taking me back to when I was a child. it’s like if I played the game of Battleship, I could be the secretary of defense — the guy knows nothing about intelligence.”
He then proceeded to explain what Grenell will likely face during what expected to be his brief tenure since it is unlikely he will be sent to the Senate for confirmation to remain in the job.
“There is an upside to this if you are an intel person, I’m going to be real cynical here. If you watch what Grenell said, he said I’m not going to be around for long — meaning he doesn’t want the job,” Mudd began. “Legally he can’t stay around that long. So if you’re an intel person you’re sitting there saying ‘I’m going to slow roll it, I’m not going to pay attention to what he says.”
“There’s a challenge there when staff comes in from the White House that stays beyond Grenell, there’s a problem and there are reports of that happening,” he explained. “First they’re going to slow roll him. Second is, what’s his ability to control the message? The information he gets on Russian hacking is going to come from people who have been around for 20 or 30 years. Is he going to change it before he goes to the Hill to testify? That’s going to get out in a leak.”
“And the last thing is, how do you control the directors of the intelligence agencies, the NSA particularly and the director of the CIA who will get out there in testimony and say stuff different than what Grenell says,” he added. “The system here is going to be interesting. I think it’ll undercut the choice for DNI.”
Trump About to Toss His Brand New Director of National Intelligence to the Curb for Another Also Unqualified Nominee
Blowhard Anti-Gay Congressman Who Says ‘Democrats Are in Love With Terrorists’ Likely to Be Trump’s Top Intel Chief
Ambassador Richard Grenell had been President Donald Trump’s acting Director of National Intelligence for less than a full day and already the disloyal president is preparing to toss him to the curb. Grenell has no qualifications for the role – by law the DNI must have “extensive national security expertise” – but he does hold one card that beats all the others: blind, obedient loyalty to Trump.
That is all the president cares about when it comes to choosing the person who will be in charge of all 17 U.S. intelligence agencies and offices.
At 7:25 PM on Wednesday Trump officially made the announcement he was installing Grenell as acting DNI.
I am pleased to announce that our highly respected Ambassador to Germany, @RichardGrenell, will become the Acting Director of National Intelligence. Rick has represented our Country exceedingly well and I look forward to working with him. I would like to thank Joe Maguire….
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 20, 2020
Grenell, who is loathed by Germany, the country to which he serves as U.S. Ambassador, started his new job Thursday.
At 10:51 PM Thursday, barely 24 hours after announcing Grenell, Trump announced Grenell’s stint would be short.
Thank you to our great US Ambassador to Germany, @RichardGrenell, for stepping in to serve as acting DNI. I will be nominating a terrific candidate for the job very soon. Stay tuned!

Sure enough, on Air Force One Trump told reporters he is considering plucking the also bombastic U.S. Congressman Doug Collins, Republican of Georgia, and making him the latest DNI. Collins literally could be the third DNI in a week, although he will need to be Senate confirmed.
Many Americans likely are familiar with Collins, the Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee who throws temper tantrums for a living on national TV.
Here he is just last month saying “Democrats are in love with terrorists.”

Congressman Collins, who is anti-gay, opposes same-sex marriage, and opposed the Violence Against Women Act, is running for an open Senate seat in Georgia. Trump and the GOP are backing his challenger, Kelly Loeffler.
Collins, like Grenell, doesn’t have to worry too much about being totally unqualified. He’s got that blind loyalty to Trump bit down pat:
— Rep. Doug Collins (@RepDougCollins) February 17, 2020
Here’s how a few experts are responding to the Collins news:
By law (50 USC 3023) and common sense, the DIrector of National Intelligence must have “extensive national security expertise.” Collins lacks such expertise, but so does new acting DNI Grenell, so if GOP senators don’t make a big fuss now they’ll be stuck with one or the other. https://t.co/d8AKFxKbQA

He’s just trying to make Ric Grenell look apolitical and qualified. Everything’s relative.
(In truth this might have been Moscow Mitch’s idea— he wants Collins out of the way in GA) https://t.co/2ewAbuJeAa
