Crist: I Left The GOP Because They’re ‘Anti-Women, Anti-Immigrant, Anti-Minority, Anti-Gay’
Former Florida governor Charlie Crist says that he left the Republican Party because they’re “anti-women, anti-immigrant, anti-minority, anti-gay.” In an interview with Fusion TV, Crist called out the GOP for its “intolerable” racism, especially against President Barack Obama.Â
“I couldn’t be consistent with myself and my core beliefs, and stay with a party that was so unfriendly toward the African-American president, I’ll just go there,†Crist, now a Democrat, said. “I was a Republican and I saw the activists and what they were doing, it was intolerable to me.â€

He noted that when Obama became president, the GOP “leadership went off the cliff.”
Crist ran for the Senate and lost to Marco Rubio. He’s now running to get his old job back: governor of Florida.
“I am liberated as a Democrat, my true soul is able to be seen, and I couldn’t be happier about it,†Crist told Fusion TV’s Jorge Ramos.
