Thank You Sarah Palin, Joe Miller! Murkowski Makes 60.
Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), the successful and historic write-in candidate who won over the Sarah Palin and Tea Party backed candidate Joe Miller, has just announced she will support repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” which, according to Adam Bink, “puts it beyond a doubt that we have our 60 votes on the policy,” but not on the process.
Murkowski joins Senators Collins and Brown to jump ship from the GOP, but they could pull a procedural fast-one and not vote to allow the vote to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” to move forward if they don’t like how Majority Leader Harry Reid lines up the process.
Greg Sargent adds, “Her vote will depend on how free and open the amendment process is, but she has reached the decision that don’t ask don’t tell ought to be repealed, provided that proper preparations are implemented,†Murkowski spokesman Michael Brumas tells me.”
Stay tuned. Tonight should be rather interesting…
