NY Same-Sex Marriage Protests: God Hates Fags And NOM (Video)
Sunday, the first day marriage equality was legal in New York, the National Organization for Marriage, under the shroud of a “Let the people vote” on same-sex marriage equality, held an anti-gay hate rally headlined by New York State Senator and Reverend Rubén DÃaz. Also attending was the infamous Westboro Baptist Church, aka, God Hates Fags,” and a small contingent of Orthodox Jews.
This video, produced by the LGBT group Connecting Rainbows, features these protests (starting at 1:51) an introduction by group leader Louis Flores, and images of weddings at the end.
In a press release, Flores states, “members of Connecting Rainbows encountered messages of hate and violence from the Westboro Baptist Church, the New York Hispanic Clergy Association, at least one representative from the office of Sen. Ruben Diaz, Sr., and another religious group.”
If you weren’t there, this is a good compilation of the day’s events in midtown New York City.
