NOM Marriage Pledge: Thomas Roberts Talks To Brian Brown And John Lewis
This morning, MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts interviewed the president of NOM, the National Organization For Marriage, Brian Brown, and Marriage Equality USA’s John Lewis. Roberts posed striking, tough, hard-hitting questions, and Brown really couldn’t give Roberts a straight answer.
Roberts opens by asking Brown why NOM didn’t include divorce in their “marriage pledge.” Roberts also talks about the lower rate of divorce in states that have embraced same-sex marriage, asks Brown why he feels Lewis, the opposing guest and his husband are, “less than you?”
Roberts confronts Brown with the question no one else had ever dared to, saying, “but the gay people got here through heterosexuals having sex, right?”
“It is not true that two men or two women are in the same position as a man and a woman a husband and wife united together in marriage — these are different things,” Brown argues.
