Look: All 9 NJ Democrats In Congress Sign Letter Supporting Gay Marriage
The entire U.S. Congressional Democratic delegation for New Jersey — all nine U.S. Senators and Representatives — just signed and sent a letter to the New Jersey Legislature in support of their upcoming introduction of a gay marriage bill tomorrow.
“We, the entire Democratic membership of the New Jersey Congressional delegation, urge you to support the marriage equality bill being introduced by the Democratic leadership in the state Senate and Assembly, along with many sponsors,” the letter — a copy is below — begins.
“New Jersey has a proud history of civil rights leadership, and we must continue our role in pursuing fairness and equality. Other states with a combined population of more than 35 million people already have marriage equality – including our next door neighbor, New York.”
As their first legislative act in the new year, Democrats in New Jersey, in both Houses, will tomorrow introduce gay marriage bills that are reported to have strong support.
The letter is signed by:
Frank R. Lautenberg, United States Senator
Robert Menendez, United States Senator
Rush Holt, Member of Congress
Robert Andrews, Member of Congress
Albio Sires, Member of Congress
Steven Rothman, Member of Congress
Bill Pascrell, Member of Congress
Frank Pallone, Jr., Member of Congress
Donals Payne, Member of Congress
New Jersey, especially thanks to Garden State Equality, has a very strong on-the-ground machine working to support this move. Let’s be sure to offer them our complete support!
