Last Chance To Vote! Please, Help Jonathan And Gregory Win!
OK. I think this is my seventh piece on Jonthan Howard and Gregory Jones’ quest to win Crate & Barrel’s “Ultimate Wedding Contest.” And it’s also my last. (Well, OK, I’ll do a follow-up letting you know the results when they’re announced!)
And this is my personal plea: vote. Vote for Jon and Greg. Your vote for them is a vote for marriage equality. It’s a vote against homophobia. It’s a vote that tells America that same-sex couples are just as much an equal part of America as opposite-sex couples. It’s a vote that says to those bigots who used Jon and Greg’s orientation as a tool to vote against them. (I refuse to share the quotes I read, but they truly were disgusting.)
Jonathan and Gregory, though I’ve never met them, have shown grace, dignity, spirit, humility, and passion. They have welcomed the media into their lives, and their home. They have said that they are proud of who they are and proud to be “used,” in a sense, to further our cause.
As the victim of a hate crime, Jonathan has, with the love and support of Gregory, tried to move on with his life and make the world a little bit better.
For all these reasons and so many more, and for the last time, because voting ends at midnight, I’m asking you to tak a moment, head on over to Crate and Barrel’s website, and cast your vote for Jonathan and Gregory, and for marriage equality.
One simple act, many powerful results.
Thank you!
P.S. Once Jon and Greg were in first place, but friends and colleagues of the couple now in first place viciously attacked Jon and Greg, pushing Jon and Greg into second place. At one point they had half as many votes as their first-place competitors. Now, there’s a much narrower margin. I know with your efforts, they can reach first place again!
