Dr. Keith Ablow and Tony Perkins discussed President Obama‘s support for same-sex marriage, the institution of marriage, and adoption of children by same-sex couples as they spread falsehoods, hate, fear, and lies in a segment on Fox News hosted by Lou Dobbs.
Dr. Ablow, who spent a great deal of time recently spreading fear and hate about Chaz Bono and transgender people, falsely stated that same-sex couples who adopt children don’t do it to care for others. “This is narcissistic,” Ablow claimed.
“How did we decide that kids are just fine to grow up absent their biological parent,” Ablow proclaimed. “Three people can love each other so polygamy has to be close behind” the advent of same-sex marriage. “How can you have same-sex marriage and not believe three people can fall in love, which they absolutely can?”
Ablow is confusing issues, ignoring peer-reviewed studies, and fear-mongering. That he is able to do it with a “Dr.” in front of his name on national television is astonishing.
At any given moment in America, there are 2.9 million children who are homeless. Millions more are living in temporary situations without either of their biological parents. Study after study proves that children raised by same-sex couples are at least as successful in school and at least as well-adjusted as their peers raised by heterosexual parents.
Same-sex couples often adopt, alleviating some of this tragedy.
Dr. Keith Ablow is ignorant –willfully or not — of all these facts.
Tony Perkins, the head of the certified anti-gay hate group, Family Research Council, citing junk science, claims, “$112 billion a year the result of the demise of the family.” False.
And if it were true, Perkins should be then jumping on all same-sex couples, begging us to marry and adopt, right? Wouldn’t that make sense if Perkins were concerned about children?
“You cannot devalue the role of a mom and a dad and not impact the life of a child and as a result the social costs that are associated with it.”
In Tony Perkins’ world, facts are irrelevant.
In Tony Perkins world, every child has a mom and a dad and gay couples merely are attempting to rip part these intact Ozzie and Harriet, Father Knows Best, Leave It To Beaver homes to steal their children and raise them in Godless same-sex couple-headed households.
Or, Â in Tony Perkins’ world, same-sex couples are creating children and subjecting them to horrors unimaginable.
Neither of which is true.
Perkins says that “This is an experiment we don’t want to have.” Well, Tony, this is an “experiment” we are having — presidential support or not. LGBT people, much to your chagrin, exist. We will continue to enter into relationships, and yes, marriage, and we will continue to create and raise families and there’s nothing you can do to stop it.
And shame on you, and Dr. Keith Ablow, for trying.
Ironically, Fox’s Lou Dobbs (and Shepard Smith) have publicly endorsed same-sex marriage but you’d never know it from this segment.
