Judge To Maggie: Play by NY Rules Or No Pro-Paladino Video
A federal judge has told Maggie Gallagher, Chair of the anti-gay hate group the National Organization for Marriage, that she must play by New York’s rules or she cannot play an ad supporting the virulently homophobic Carl Paladino, the Tea Party-supported Republican candidate for Governor of New York.
Gallagher had petitioned the court to declare unconstitutional a law that requires it, and all other groups, to disclose the names of its donors. Until Gallagher complies, the judge ruled she cannot run the anti-gay marriage ad.
Via WIVB:
“Federal Judge Richard Arcara has rejected a challenge to New York’s election law from the National Organization for Marriage. The group wanted to run its pro-Paladino ads without reporting the names of its donors. In New York, the group would be required to register as a political committee, and election law requires a political committee report the names of its donors. The group wanted the judge to rule the law unconstitutional, but Judge Arcara ruled against the group, calling the case pre-mature.”
