Jon Stewart On Fox’s Race-Based Freakout: ‘You Do Know Jesus Wasn’t Born In Bethlehem, PA?’
Jon Stewart last night went after Fox News for their race-based freakout over suggestions that Santa Claus and Jesus Christ might have been Black.
The “Daily Show” pundit first took up Gretchen Carlson’s attack on Festivus, and her bemoaning that she should not have to see a Festivus pole as she drives around in her car with her kids looking for nativity scenes.
We’ll let you watch the video to see what he did with that.
Next up: Megyn Kelly’s utter freakout over a Slate author’s op-ed explaining why, as an African-American, she found depictions of a white Santa Claus to be upsetting.
Kelly held a panel discussion on the issue and actually said “it’s a verifiable fact” that Jesus Christ was white.
“You do know Jesus wasn’t born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, right?,” Stewart quipped.
And actually, Christ was most likely not white, and very likely a person of color — a Jewish man of Middle Eastern descent.
But when Kelly said that “Santa just is white,” apparently for the benefit of children, Stewart attacked.
“Who are you even talking to? Children who are sophisticated enough to be watching a news channel at 10 o’clock at night, yet innocent enough to still believe Santa Claus is real, yet racist enough to be freaked out if he isn’t white?â€
And when Kelly insisted that “just because it makes you uncomfortable, it doesn’t mean it has to change,” Stewart responded with this:
“Actually, I think that’s the official slogan of oppression.’Oppression: Just because it makes you uncomfortable, it doesn’t mean it has to change.'”

In part two, Stewart continues, saying, “There is so much crazy going on here. I don’t even have time to deal with a Fox News pundit saying, ‘You can’t take facts and try to change them to try and fit some political agenda!'”

Finally, Megyn Kelly was mysteriously absent last night, but will reportedly discuss the Jesus-And-Santa-Were-White issue tonight.
