Above are the names of some of my wonderful friends on Twitter who today “retweeted” me. If you’re a Twitterer, you know this means that they “CC’d” my tweets. I’m so lucky to know so many people on Twitter, but, like that old Faberge shampoo commercial, “I told two friends, and they told two friends, and they told two friends…”, well, that’s how we get great things done. Like, helping people know the facts about gay marriage. About the sad and ignorant lies Rep. Virginia Foxx said about the murder of Matthew Shepard. Like, sharing the video of Rachel Maddow interviewing Judy Shepard. Like the exciting news that for the first time EVER, more Americans are in support of gay marriage than are opposed.
These are just a few examples of some of the information we shared on Twitter just today. And above are just some of the great people who retweeted. Honestly, I tried to go back and copy ALL the names of people who retweeted stories today. I think I got everyone, but I’m afraid if I missed someone, they’ll feel bad. So, that’s why I’m saying some. And some are duplicated because they retweeted a lot today!
This is just a snapshot. There are over a million people on Twitter. This is just one day. Literally hundreds of others could be on this list too if this were another day. Some of you are on this list every day. I thank you all. I ♡ You All!
If this sounds silly to you, think about this:
Wednesday at about 10:30 PM I started #FireFoxx, a group on the social networking site Facebook, and dedicated it to getting Rep. Virginia Foxx to resign (Fire Foxx). Here it is, just 48 hours later. We just hit 1000 members. That’s one thousand people all committed to helping North Carolina get proper representation. One thousand voices, one thousand sets of eyes and ears and minds, all who believe that no one should be able to malign the good name of a man who was savagely beaten simply because two men didn’t like that he was gay. One thousand people who believe in fairness, in equal rights, in treating people with respect, in ending discrimination and hate. One thousand people in 48 hours working together to send a message. One thousand people who are working together to make things happen. One thousand people who are committed. One thousand people who care.
THAT’S why I ♡ You All! Because you care. Because you want to make the world a better place. Because you’re committed. Because you keep me going. Because you are working for equality and the free flow of information and sharing #FACTS. Because you are sharing your ♡.
I Do ♡ You All. Thank you.
