Huntsman: ‘BottomFeeder’ Blogs Took My GOP China Comments Out Of Context
Jon Huntsman this morning claimed that his comments comparing the GOP to China’s communist party were taken out of context by “bottom feeder” blogs, who don’t show responsibility. Just as he did during the GOP presidential campaign, Huntsman spoke the truth then retracted it. Appearing on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” just hours after his interview following a New York City speaking engagement, Huntsman chastised the media:
We were talking about all kinds of different things, waxing philosophical. And you get these blogs out there — you know, BottomFeeder, BuzzSaw, Buzzfeed, whatever they are — and they take a sentence out of context and it becomes a headline and pretty soon mainstream newspapers…
“Well, that’s why we’re here,†joked host Joe Scarborough, Mediaite, who posted the video below, reported:
“There’s something called responsibility in the media these days, Joe,†said Huntsman. “Give me a break.â€
Huntsman last night, responding to being un-invited to a GOP fundraiser after calling fort a third political party, said:
This is what they do in China on party matters if you talk off script.
He also blasted the GOP’s anti-science and anti-tax policies, and distanced himself from Mitt Romney, whom he has endorsed.

In August during the campaign, Huntsman at one point said via Twitter he believed in evolution and climate change in response to other candidates denying reality. “To be clear. I believe in evolution and trust scientists on global warming. Call me crazy,” Huntsman wrote.
But in December, sinking in the polls, Huntsman switched.
Talking Points Memo reported:
In a move that’s sure to endear him to the conservatives who are starting to warm up to the former Utah governor, Huntsman said Tuesday under questioning from TPM that he now believes there’s “more debate yet to play out†before we can be sure climate change is really happening.
