Gingrich, Huckabee, Bachmann Join Hate Group Leader For Fundraiser
Republican presidential aspirants Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee, Haley Barbour, and Michele Bachmann are teaming up with Tony Perkins, president of the certified hate group the Family Research Council (FRC), and other hate preachers, such as Lou Engle and David Barton, for a fundraiser for hate group-associated Florida Family Policy Council.
Newt Gingrich is widely expected to announce the formation of a presidential exploratory committee today. Mike Huckabee, whom Media Matters yesterday said “Uses Role At Fox News To Launch Anti-Gay Attacks,” is debating a presidential run if he can afford to not get sick…
The Florida Family Policy Council (FFPC) is reportedly affiliated with Focus on the Family (FOF), an extreme anti-gay group that at one point had merged with certified hate group the Family Research Council. The Florida Family Policy Council needs money, as the good folks at Right Wing Watch report:
“John Stemberger is the President of the Florida Family Policy Council who has recently become a cause célèbre for the Religious Right because he is facing both a $10 million defamation lawsuit and misconduct complaint stemming from his actions during the Rifqa Bary saga in 2009.
“A legal defense fund has been set up with the backing of the Newt Gingrich, Jerry Boykin, David Barton, Tony Perkins, and Lou Engle … and according to this flyer [PDF], many of these leaders - along with Michele Bachmann, Mike Huckabee, and Haley Barbour - will be joining Stemberger for a “Florida Family Council Special Event” later this month in the form of a live webcast broadcast to churches around the nation entitled “Rediscover God in America.”
The obvious question every American must ask themselves is, “Do I want a president who rubs elbows, personally, financially, and ideologically with hate groups?”
Take a moment and have a look around the “Rediscover God in America” website.
It says,
“The foundation of our heritage as a nation is the Word of God, but we’ve lost sight of this in today’s culture. It’s time to learn and understand what “One Nation Under God” really means.
Join churches across America for a FREE, national event
that will reveal how American history and current events
can only be fully understood in light of God and His Word.
Or, this “sample email you can send” to your Pastor:
“Dear Pastor_________,
I’d like to make you aware of an important, live national event that will be hosted in churches across America via webcast on Saturday, March 26, 2011:  Rediscover God in America, featuring Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee, George Barna, David Barton and other top speakers. And it’s absolutely FREE!
This event will reveal how American history and current events can only be fully understood in the light of God’s Word. It will lay a foundation of critical knowledge for Christians and will equip us to rightly interpret and assess current events according to Biblical truth.
I think this would be a valuable learning experience for our congregation and community.
For more information, go to www.rediscovergodinamerica.com. I would be happy to help coordinate and publicize this event.”
“It’s time to learn and understand what “One Nation Under God” really means?” I pray not.
