George W. Bush Follows In Wife’s Footsteps, Joins Twitter?
Has former-President George W. Bush followed in his wife Laura’s footsteps, and joined Twitter? While it’s not yet a “verified account,” he has tweeted three times, including one tweet promoting his wife’s book, in which she comes out in favor of marriage equality and abortion rights.
The former president is following just four people: his wife, the Republican Party, Sarah Palin, and, in a perhaps surprising bi-partisan move, President Barack Obama. (But not Fox News, the former first lady’s first choice to follow.)
While former Vice President Dick Cheney is not on Twitter, the architect of Bush’s electoral victories, Karl Rove, is. Sadly, they have yet to connect in the popular social media sphere.
While it doesn’t mention it specifically, Bush’s Twitter page links to The George W. Bush Presidential Center. Oddly, his Twitter name is “Support George Bush.” Hasn’t America done enough of that already?
@ChrisGeidner informs me ABC’s Jake Tapper reports (via Twitter, of course!) “the @George_WBush tweets are from his presidential center — legit but not from him personally”
