DOMA: Anti-Gay Hate Group Leader Accuses Gays Of Terrorism
Anti-gay hate group leader Tony Perkins, president of the certified hate group Family Research Council (FRC) Friday morning said,
“This has moved from cultural terrorism to corporate terrorism. That’s what this is. Now, back in the 80’s and early 90’s I worked with the state department in anti-terrorism and we trained about fifty different countries in defending against terrorism, and it’s, at it’s base, what terrorism is, it’s a strike against the general populace simply to spread fear and intimidation so that they can disrupt and destabilize the system of government. That’s what the homosexuals are doing here to the legal system.”
(Yes, emphasis of the use of the word “terrorism” five times, mine.)
This is in response to King and Spalding (K&S), the law firm chosen by John Boehner to represent the House in defending DOMA, the Defense of Marriage Act. One week after signing with the House, King and Spalding resigned, backing out of the deal, saying the “process used for vetting this engagement was inadequate.â€
This has so enraged those on the right. They cannot stand this defeat. So they have gone after K&S so agressively, and, of course, gone after the LGBT community.

By the way, the facts?
Reportedly, Coke, as a major client, gently helped K&S understand the ramifications of defending DOMA. So did its many gay and lesbian lawyers, many of whom, according to reports, were considering quitting.
This is the free market working at its best. A concept totally lost on free-market thinkers like bigoted, hate-mongering, anti-gay conservatives.
Once again, a very big thank you to Jeremy Hooper of Good As You, who consistently provides these examples of the right’s thinking. I hope you read him often.
