Chick-Fil-A Passive-Aggressively Dumps Kermit The Frog
Chick-Fil-A was dumped a few days ago by Kermit The Frog. Now, the Christian fast-food retailer is fighting back. The Henson Company, creator of the Muppets and Sesame Street characters (licenses to which they’ve since sold) had provided children’s toys for Chick-Fil-A kids’ meals, and announced they would donate the proceeds from Chick-Fil-A to GLAAD. So today, Chick-Fil-A has announced it is:
initiating a voluntary withdrawal for our Jim Henson Creature Shop Puppet Kid’s Meal Premiums due to a product issue (even though all puppets passed safety testing requirements).
In lieu of the kid’s meal premium we will offer a Kid’s Icedream.
We plan to have replacement kid’s meal premiums within 2 weeks. Thank you and we apologize for any inconvenience.
Seriously.
It’s unclear if this is a corporate initiative or bad behavior by individual franchises, but all Henson did was merely cut ties with Chick-Fil-A, and announced it was donating income to charity.
Chick-Fil-A decides to pull the promotion, putting children and parents in the middle of a corporate argument.
Did Chick-Fil-A think the toys were defective, bad for kids, damaged, dangerous, or, maybe, infected with “the gay”?
This is passive-agressive corporate bad behavior. It’s childish behavior.
And it say a lot about Chick-Fil-A.
