Boehner To The Rescue — Of International Anti-Gay Organization Promoting Russia’s Policies
If you are a pro-drug legalization group, a group interested in eliminating child labor laws, or perhaps pro-prostitution, you should immediately pick up the telephone and call (202) 225-6205. As long as you are engaged in a “discussion of public policy issues from across the political spectrum,” Speaker Boehner’s office apparently will be happy to schedule a meeting room for you in a federal office building in Washington, D.C.
LOOK:Â Why Are Top Anti-Gay Activists Holding A Meeting In A US Senate Building Today?
As The New Civil Rights Movement reported today, a radical anti-gay international organization based in Illinois had arranged a meeting with U.S. Senators and their staffs to discuss ways the federal government can become more like Russia, especially regarding family policy and the LGBT community. That meeting was to be held in a U.S. Senate office building.
On their agenda:
While the current U.S. administration persists in its efforts to redefine marriage and family, other nations are seeking a reaffirmation of the natural family. Australia has just elected a conservative government and given the largest budget area to Kevin Andrews, long-time defender of the family and World Congress of Families supporter; Russia recently banned the propaganda of “nontraditional sexual relations†to minors; and across Europe and Africa, nations are concerned with life issues, shrinking populations, and the disintegration of the natural family. Here in America, what can our pro-family legislators learn—positively and negatively—by studying our colleagues’ actions abroad?
The World Congress of Families was booked into a meeting room by Senator Mark Kirk’s office, which didn’t understand exactly who the World Congress of Families is.

While they operate under the average citizen’s radar, the World Congress of Families’Â “work” has taken their anti-gay, anti-women, anti-contraception advocacy to Russia, Africa, and yes, America.
They worked with Russia government lawmakers in the “debate” that led to Vladimir Putin signing legislation essentially making homosexuality and its expression or discussion illegal.
They apparently arranged for National Organization For Marriage (NOM) president Brian Brown to speak to Russia’s lawmakers days before they voted for Putin’s bill. Brown reportedly also advocated for further anti-gay laws, including denying LGBT and same-sex couples and parents the right to raise their own children, or to adopt.
The speakers at today’s scheduled meeting, Austin Ruse, Janice Shaw Crouse, and Steven Mosher are among the most virulently anti-gay, and also advocate for conservative Christians to produce more babies to head off a perceived population explosion from people who are Muslim. It’s based on a disgusting “idea” they call “demographic winter.â€
Once Senator Kirk realized who the World Congress of Families was, he canceled their meeting. “Sen. Kirk doesn’t affiliate with groups that discriminate,†Kirk’s office announced in a statement, according to Buzzfeed.
So the World Congress of Families marched over to Speaker John Boehner’s office, and were granted a meeting space.
Why?
“One of the duties of the Speaker’s office is scheduling rooms throughout the Capitol complex, and we routinely provide a forum for discussion of public policy issues from across the political spectrum, including for liberal causes,†Boehner’s spokesperson said, according to Buzzfeed. “This administrative task obviously does not imply endorsement of any particular point of view.â€
Of course, this is Republican John Boehner, who this week already blew off teenaged girls wanting to talk with him about immigration reform, and who said that he sees “no basis or no need†for protecting LGBT workers, calling ENDA “unnecessary.â€
So, if you’re involved in any “discussion of public policy issues from across the political spectrum,” Speaker Boehner’s office would apparently love to arrange a meeting room for you, next time you’re in D.C. Free of charge, of course, as it would be in a federal building, built, operated, and maintained through your tax dollars.
When you all, ask for John. And tell him you’d like a room with a view.
