Bill Donohue Gay-Bashes Christine Quinn’s Wedding (WTF?)

Published

on

Catholic League president Bill Donohue told reporters he won’t be attending the Saturday wedding of New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, because  it’s not a “real” wedding, apparently.

“The people who go know they are not witnessing a wedding,” Donohue said. “I will be at a bar watching the Preakness. The horses are a lot more fun – and it’s real.” Donohue was so impressed with himself he immortalized his words into Twitter.

(I don’t know why, but I feel like there was a bestiality dig there. I’m sure I’m mistaken.)

Donohue, who chances are, like same-sex marriage opponent Democratic Councilman Peter Vallone Jr., was not invited to Saturday’s nuptials. The “historic wedding,” as AM New York mentions, “will be a huge win for gay rights,” and “the highest-profile same-sex wedding involving a politician that the city has seen.”

Donohue, who has never demonstrated publicly a modicum of decency or humanity, has gone too far this time, even for him.

His comments, like, “Yes, there’s a connection between Irish and alcoholism, and, yes, there’s a connection between homosexuality and sexual abuse of minors,” are, sadly, to be expected.

Donohue equating married equality with Apartheid, as GLAAD noted, is par for the course in the world of anti-gay professionals.

Claiming  AIDS is “self-inflicted” is just the normal course of events for the lying, foul mouthed faux Catholic, whose views are to the right of even the Pope’s.

Falsely suggesting polygamy will be Obama’s next step in his marriage evolution journey is typical, ignorant boilerplate rhetoric beneath even Donohue (not that it stopped him from saying it.)

Positing on a “thought experiment’ of “weeding out“ unborn gay babies is vile, and a new Donohue low.

Attacking Democratic strategist and lesbian Hilary Rosen for because she “had to adopt kids” is ugly but stupid.

But Donohue here has crossed a big line. Donohue is now getting personal on the subject of marriage.

It’s one thing to attack the LGBT community. It’s one thing to attack marriage equality as an institution. It’s an entirely different thing to attack someone’s own wedding, to diminish its importance, to diminish the very meaning of marriage itself.

The Catholic League took in $3.3 million in 2010, and president Bill Donohue’s annual compensation is reportedly $408,000. There is no public record of what the Catholic League does with all its millions — reportedly, it is sitting on a $28 million war chest.

Bill Donohue is the very antithesis of what “catholic” means, and what the Catholic Church stands for — or was supposed to. And if I’m wrong, the Catholic Church is in even more trouble than I thought.

Harris Super PAC Picks Up $7 Million Donation From Megadonor Who Demanded Biden’s Exit

Published

on

One of the top Democratic megadonors who called on President Joe Biden to end his re-election campaign has just handed a pro-Harris super PAC $7 million. The large donation comes amid record-breaking donations to Harris’ new presidential campaign as well as massive donations to Democratic groups.

After President Biden’s damning debate performance on June 27, Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings announced, “Biden needs to step aside to allow a vigorous Democratic leader to beat Trump and keep us safe and prosperous,” Deadline reported July 3.

Hastings had donated $1.6 million to Biden’s successful 2020 election effort, and $100,000 to his re-election bid.

“After the depressing debate, we are in the game again,” Hastings told The Information. The tech and business site in an exclusive reported Tuesday that “Hastings said it was his biggest donation ever in support of a single candidate.”

Hastings on Tuesday also posted on X, “Congrats to Kamala Harris — now it is time to win.”

In addition to securing the endorsement of nearly every congressional Democrat, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries on Tuesday, Vice President Harris set an all-time donations record in her first 24 hours as the leading Democratic candidate: $81 million according to the campaign.

On Tuesday Harris held her first rally as the Democratic presidential candidate and de-facto nominee, telling thousands of cheering supporters, “we are running a people-powered campaign,” and “we will be a people first presidency.”

Harris Defines Campaign in Roaring Wisconsin Rally: ‘People First’ vs. ‘America First’

Published

on

Speaking before thousands of cheering and screaming supporters in must-win Wisconsin, Kamala Harris defined herself and her campaign for President in her first rally after President Joe Biden announced he would not continue his re-election campaign and endorsed his Vice President. Harris repeatedly used the term “people first,” a clear contrast to the MAGA Republican nominee’s “America First” rhetoric.

“Just look at how we are running our campaign. So Donald Trump is relying on support from billionaires and big corporations, and he is trading access in exchange for campaign contributions,” Harris said, eliciting boos from the crowd. “A couple of months ago, y’all saw that? A couple months ago at Mar-a-Lago, he literally promised big oil companies – big oil lobbyists – he would do their bidding for $1 billion in campaign donations.”

The crowd again booed.

“On the other hand, we are running a people-powered campaign,” Harris said to cheers, “and we just had, some breaking news, we just had the best 24 hours,” Harris continued before the crowd again broke out into cheers, “of grassroots fundraising in presidential campaign history. And because we are a people-powered campaign, that is how you know we will be a people first presidency.”

Before pivoting to Donald Trump, Harris shared with her supporters her law enforcement background. She was elected as San Francisco’s District Attorney, which she described as being a “courtroom prosecutor,” and later, elected as California Attorney General.

“In those roles, I took on perpetrators of all kinds,” the Vice President said, “predators who abused women, fraudsters who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain.”

“So, hear me when I say, I know Donald Trump’s type,” Harris declared, stopping to take a long, hard stare into the camera.

Harris also told supporters she will protect the right to vote, the right to “live safe from the terror of gun violence.”

“We’ll finally pass red flag laws, universal background checks, and an assault weapons ban,” she declared to cheers.

“And we, who believe in reproductive freedom, will stop Donald Trump’s extreme abortion bans because we trust women to make decisions about their own bodies,” she said to wild cheers, “and not have their government tell them what to do,” she concluded, forced to shout above the roaring crowd.

According to the Institute for Policy Studies’s Foreign Policy in Focus, the “America First” label “began to develop a racist, anti-Semitic, and xenophobic tone after World War I. The Ku Klux Klan, which surged to some five million members at that time, employed it frequently for its terrorist mobilizations. Like the Klan, nativist groups took up ‘America First’ as they used racist, eugenicist claims to press, successfully, for U.S. government restrictions on immigration. Appealing to an overheated nationalism, William Randolph Hearst used his newspaper empire to campaign, successfully, against U.S. participation in the League of Nations. Soon thereafter, he became a booster of other nationalist fanatics, the rising fascist powers.”

Schumer and Jeffries Gleefully Endorse Harris in Joint Presser After Trump Morning Meltdown

Published

on

Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, both smiling and appearing gleeful and excited, publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for President in a joint 1 PM Tuesday press conference. President Joe Biden, recovering from a week-long stretch of COVID, announced he will address the nation Wednesday evening in a primetime special to explain his decision for ending his re-election campaign. As Democrats across the board get their ducks in a row, Donald Trump appeared to melt down late Tuesday morning in a series of angry rapid-fire social media posts.

“We are here today to throw our support behind Vie President Harris!” a rarely-excited Majority Leader Schumer declared, almost shouting, as he announced he was “clapping.”

Both Leaders vowed to hold the Senate and take back the House.

The two top congressional Democrats were going to meet with the now-presumptive presidential nominee on Tuesday before endorsing, but that meeting has reportedly been postponed. On Monday, Leader Jeffries talked to reporters while appearing to try to not make any announcement:

But after the Democratic donation site ActBlue took in nearly $150 million in the time since President Biden ended his re-election campaign, and the Harris for President campaign announced it had received a record-breaking $81 million in donations in the first 24-hour period, and with every Democratic governor endorsing Harris, and nearly every House and Senate Democrat endorsing the VP, it appears Schumer and Jeffries decided time was of the essence.

As all these moves are being made, Donald Trump appears to be maintaining a slow campaign schedule. His campaign website continues to list only two upcoming scheduled rallies per week, Trump this week is holding a solo rally without his new vice presidential running mate, U.S. Senator JD Vance, on Wednesday, and the two candidates will hold a joint rally Saturday.

But on his social media website Truth Social, Trump is far more active, and ranted for an hour and a half Tuesday morning:

10:32 AM: Trump accused the Biden/Harris Administration of not properly protecting him when a 20-year old registered Republican opened fire on the crowd at his Pennsylvania rally ten days ago, killing a supporter, seriously wounding two others, and apparently causing the ex-president a bloody ear. Trump claimed he was “forced to take a bullet for Democracy,” and called it his “great honor” in all-caps.

11:25 AM: “Why did Fox News put up Tim Walz, Governor of Minnesota, where I am leading? They make me fight battles that I shouldn’t have to fight!” Trump angrily declared.

11:26 AM: A furious Trump lashes out, writing, “I can’t believe it! They’re turning Crooked Joe Biden, the Worst President in the History of the United States, into a ‘Hero’ – He was pushed out of power like a dog, and look what the Radical Left is able to do. MAGA2024!”

11:26 AM: In his second rapid-fired post, Trump announced, “I don’t know who said it, or where it came from, perhaps the Radical Left, but I never discussed, or thought of, Jamie Dimon or Larry Fink for Secretary of the Treasury.”

11:26 AM: His third rapid-fire post, Trump writes, “Lyin’ Kamala Harris destroys everything she touches!”

12:03 PM: Trump brands the Vice President and his presumptive opponent, “Lyin’ Kamala Harris,” and demands she answer if she thinks President Biden can serve for the next six months. Inexplicably, he adds, “Now it appears Joe is delegating his Presidential Authority to unelected Washington Bureaucrats! He doesn’t even trust his Vice President. WHO IS RUNNING THE COUNTRY?”
