“You Don’t Allow Muslims To Serve In The Military” Says GOP Lawmaker
“You don’t allow Muslims to serve in the military,” says Tennessee Republican state Representative Rick Womick, when speaking with Bryan Fischer yesterday. Fischer is the public face of the certified anti-gay hate group, American Family Association. Rep. Rick Womick added, in his defense, that he can’t tell the good Muslims from the bad ones.
Apparently, Rep. Womick is able to tell the good Christians from the bad ones, and the good Asians from the bad ones, and the good African-Americans from the bad ones. Perhaps the military should hire Rep. Womick to recruit for them? Perhaps we could use him in airports, too?
This is the same bigotry and hatred that has led to every minority being targeted and assaulted at one time or another, and Rep. Womick has no business serving the American people — despite (or because of) his long resume of serving all these groups:
- Rutherford County Republican Party
- Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce
- National Rifle Association
- Air Force Association
- Allied Pilots Association
- Focus on the Family
- New Vision Baptist Church
- Tennessee Right to Life
- Tennessee Eagle Forum
- Boy Scouts of America
- World TaeKwonDo Federation
Apparently, Rep. Womick thinks “they won’t honor our constitution,” so “they can go back where they came from.”
Nice.
Some GOP lawmakers have said the very same thing about gays in the military. There are 65,000 gays currently serving. I have no idea how many Muslims, or people of the Islamic faith are serving our military, protecting Rep. Womick’s bigoted butt, but I’m sure we cannot afford to have them up and quit and “go back where they came from.” And frankly, I’d rather Rep. Womick did. America would be far better off.
