“Any Catholic In Public Office – His First Commitment Has To Be To His Faith”
Bishop Wants “Moral Law Reflected” In Laws Of The Country
Make no mistake. The Catholic Church is waging a holy war against America and democracy. Slowly over the past few weeks, more and more commentary has been made by leaders within the Catholic and Christian communities. They are brandishing their bibles and throwing the fear of God around like it’s 1099. As you’ll see when I post, “Catholic Church Wages New Holy War,” and as I wrote yesterday, I’m very concerned about the rise in hate crimes against the LGBTQ community, and the overall assault – physical and philosophical – we are experiencing.
For now, listen to Chris Matthews’ Monday interview of Reverend Thomas Tobin, who had the audacity to proclaim, “Any Catholic in public office – his first commitment has to be to his faith. Not just for a Catholic but for a member of any religious community, no commitment is more important than your commitment to your faith, because it involves your relationship with God.”
Really, Reverend? So, aside from the obvious Constitutional incongruity you just created, you now speak as the leader of all religions? You know, I thought in his country we place out hand on the bible and swear to uphold the Constitution – not the other way around. The implications for the LGBTQ community are incomprehensible, with views like Tobin’s taken to what would be their logical conclusions. I’m not kidding when I say “stoning.” How about rounding up gays and putting us in prison? This is a dangerous man, and we need to fight him and his zealotry.
Listen. Carefully. This is Matthews at his best. Oh, and barely hours after this interview, Catholic Online demanded, “Chris Matthews should be fired for his Offensive Interview of Bishop Tobin.”
Let the battle begin.
