18 Percent Of Americans Believe Barack Obama Is Jewish
A new AP poll finds that 18%, or almost one out of every five Americans, believe President Barack Obama is Jewish, up from zero in 2010. The poll, conducted August 30 – September 11, also found 10% of Americans believe the President is Muslim, 35% believe he has “no religion,” and 28% refused to answer.
The President has often stated he is a Christian.
There is no religious test for eligibility to hold the office of President, nor should there be.
The same poll (PDF) also found 67% of Americans rightly identified Mitt Romney’s faith as Mormon. 26% answered “don’t know,” and, by comparison, only 2% “refused to answer.”
77% claimed either candidates’ religion has “no effect” on whether they would vote for them.
