Trump Today Will Sign Executive Order to ‘Build the Wall’
Wall Will Cost Tens of Billions of Dollars to Build, No Funds Allocated for Maintenance
President Donald Trump Wednesday afternoon will sign an executive order mandating the construction of a wall to be built on the U.S. southern border with Mexico. If it is successful, he will have fulfilled a major campaign promise, and the overarching theme o his campaign, which he first introduced by saying,Â
“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.â€
Despite many who say he cannot build the wall without Congress passing a law, as the president cannot legally order the spending of new monies, Trump believes he is able to divert funds from existing projects to begin the process. During the campaign Trump promised Mexico would pay for his wall, but he has since changed that promise to Mexico will reimburse America for his wall.

The executive order, which will be signed during Trump’s visit to the Department of Homeland Security, is “the first in a series of actions this week to crack down on immigrants and bolster national security, including slashing the number of refugees who can resettle in the United States and blocking Syrians and others from ‘terror prone’ nations from entering, at least temporarily,” The New York Times reports.
Trump announced he was moving forward with his wall Tuesday night via Twitter:
Big day planned on NATIONAL SECURITY tomorrow. Among many other things, we will build the wall!

Trump’s wall “will cost tens of billions of dollars, according to estimates,” the Los Angeles Times notes, adding, “the Homeland Security budget includes about $175 million set aside for upgrading Border Patrol buildings and adding new equipment, which along with other funds could be diverted quickly to start construction on a wall.”
Donald Trump foments violence and hate, is a serial liar, a racist, a misogynist, a supporter of white nationalism, a fascistic bully, an authoritarian thug, a sexual assault and adultery braggart, a hypocrite, a defrauder, and is a danger to civil rights, freedom of the press, and peace around the world.
