Fired and Disbarred, Anti-Gay Lawyer Says Under Trump Christians ‘Will No Longer Tolerate’ Liberal Elite’s Actions
Called college student a Nazi, a “liar,†“a viciously militant homosexual activist,†“Satan’s representative,†and “a militant homosexual extremist.â€
Remember Andrew Shirvell? He was the Michigan Assistant Attorney General who was obsessed with a college student named Chris Armstrong. Armstrong was the first openly gay student body president of the University of Michigan, and Shirvell dedicated himself to attacking him for being gay.
Armstrong was forced to sue Shirvell, who ultimately lost his job and his law license, and was ordered to pay Armstrong $3.5 million.
Back in 2010 Shirvell, supposedly in his “off hours,†wrote a blog called, “Chris Armstrong Watch,†which detailed his crusade against the college student whom he labeled a Nazi, a “liar,†“a viciously militant homosexual activist,†“Satan’s representative,†and “a militant homosexual extremist.â€
Five years after losing his court case, Shirvell, as the Detroit Free Press reports, is speaking out, and it’s exactly what you’d imagine.
Shirvell, fighting to get his law license back, calls the board that took it from him a “biased panel of attorneys.”
And he’s telling people he’s had enough – thanks to Trump.
“With Donald Trump now in the White House, conservative Christians like me will no longer tolerate being railroaded by the liberal elite,” Shirvell said via a press release Tuesday.
The Michigan Attorney Discipline Board will hear Shirvell’s appeal Wednesday.
CNN’s Anderson Cooper in 2010 (video above) asked Shirvell if he considers himself a “bigot.”
“Absolutely not,” Shirvell insisted, calling himself a “Christian citizen” exercising his First Amendment rights.
In 2010 the Michigan Civil Rights Commission condemned Shirvell’s actions, saying his conduct “should not be tolerated from anyone, let alone a public official responsible for representing all people equally.”
The Grand Rapids Press, reporting Shirvell’s firing that same year, noted that he had shown up at Armstrong’s home several times, including at 1:30 in the morning, and attacked not only Armstrong but his friends, by trying to out them – even the ones who were not gay.Â
