Amazon‘s new ad for their Kindle Paperwhite e-book reader is surely about to spark a(nother) One Million Moms and National Organization For Marriage (NOM), and Family Research Council, and American Family Association boycott.

The ad, which you can watch below, features a surprise ending — complete with one woman, and three men. You can do the math.

“Looks like we’re gonna have another boycott on our hands,” Dan Savage writes. “I bet Amazon is scared—just look at the damage NOM’s boycott has done to Starbucks. Just look. (Via my husband.)”

Indeed, boycotts courtesy of the radical religious right serve only to send customers, in droves, into the waiting arms of the boycottee.

JCPenney is happy to testify to this.

Cue the faux “Christian” outrage in 5, 4, 3, 2…

For the record, Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) closed yesterday at 266.41:

Oh SNAP!!! I've seen this ad before on TV and it was MUCh different, as if it had been re-shot and re-edited for "Middle America"! WTF?! I'd have to watch it again here in Iowa on TV, but I am SURE it didn't have the same ending…I would have noticed that!!!

Darn, now I'm going to have to go by a new Kindle. Oh well I can use the money I haven't been spending at Chick-fil-A.

The boycott issue works the opposite way too. The best thing to do is ignore the existence of companies you want to see disappear. not scream about them. Humans always gather around hue and cry.

When will the "christians" learn that their boycotts either have no effect or the opposite effect? Starbucks, Amazon are laughing all the way to the bank. Wise up, NOM! Do a head count, One Million Moms!
