President Barack Obama, former First Lady Laura Bush, former Vice President Dick Cheney, and former Secretary of State Colin Powell will be featured by the Respect for Marriage Coalition, which is spending one million dollars on a bipartisan ad campaign starting Sunday.
“None of us would want to be told we can’t marry the person we love. That’s why a growing majority of Americans believe it’s time to allow marriage for gay and lesbian couples,” and “It’s time for marriage,” are the tag lines the newly-formed marriage equality group is using to promote same-sex marriage equality.
The campaign, a joint effort by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and Freedom To Marry will feature advertising on major TV stations, Sunday talk shows, and top news sites, reportedly the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Washington Post and others.
