One-time Republican strategist Rick Wilson this week said there is absolutely no longer any need to equivocate about whether former President Donald Trump is a fascist.
Appearing on Molly Jong-Fast’s “Fast Politics” podcast, Wilson said that Trump’s recent statements and actions amounted to a “fascistpalooza” and he said that more Americans need to grasp the danger of what a second term would mean for the country.
“If you don’t know that Donald Trump is a fascist by now — because if it looks like a fascist and talks like a fascist and walks like a fascist and promises to govern like a fascist by putting his political opponents in jail, deporting 10 million people, ignoring the rule of law, centralizing all power with the president, firing all the federal government officials who are not directly controlled by the president — if you don’t think that’s fascism, folks, wake the f–k up!” he said.
Wilson then said that too many people have been wary of slapping Trump with the “fascist” label but he said that everything Trump has done has absolutely warranted such a designation.
“Folks: He’s a fascist,” said Wilson. “If I may modify a James Carville quote: ‘It’s a fascism, stupid!'”
