Trump-Loving Anti-LGBTQ ‘QAnon Conspiracy Theorist’ Lawmaker Who Called Pence a ‘Traitor’ Launches Run for Governor

On January 6 he called Vice President Mike Pence a “traitor” and expressed support for the leader of the far right Proud Boys. He arranged three busses to take MAGA acolytes to the January 6 “rally” where then-President Donald Trump incited an insurrection, then he claimed Antifa was behind the attempted coup. Maryland Republican Governor Larry Hogan calls him a “QAnon conspiracy theorist.”

On Sunday “Big Lie” supporter and Maryland freshman Republican state delegate Dan Cox announced he is entering the 2022 race for governor, The Washington Post reports. Hogan is term-limited and cannot run again.

Two other Republicans, along with none Democrats, have already announced intent to run, and others have said they are interested.

A 2018 article in The Fredrick News-Post revealed Cox, an attorney in private practice at the time, was also a member of the Alliance Defending Freedom, which appears on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s list of anti-LGBTQ hate groups.

Cox on social media has spread misinformation about the coronavirus vaccine and masks:
