There might be no greater example of just how extreme Fox News’ nighttime show hosts are than the network’s coverage of Wednesday’s impeachment hearings versus what Fox’s nighttime hosts – one in particular – are saying.
Fox News top anchor Chris Wallace, host of the conservative cable channel’s “Fox News Sunday,” let viewers know today’s impeachment hearing was very bad for President Trump.
Ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland, according to Wallace, “took out the bus and ran over President Trump, Vice President Pence, Mike Pompeo, John Bolton, Rudy Giuliani, Mick Mulvaney.”
“He implicates all of them,” Wallace says, just do there’s no confusion.
Wallace goes on to paraphrase Sondland: “I wasn’t a freelancer. Everybody knew. Everybody was in the loop on this,” the Fox News anchor says.
That’s pretty bad.
Fox News was not the only network to declare the day a disaster, but Fox News is generally President Donald Trump’s first line of defense.
Enter Sean Hannity.
Hannity, who reportedly speaks to the President almost every night, had a different “take.”
The Hollywood Reorter’s Jeremy Barr reports Hannity told listeners on his radio show today, “This couldn’t be a better day for President Trump.”
“It couldn’t have gone better,” Hannity claimed.

Every witness before Sondland today was either a hearsay so and so so and so so and so so and so so and so so and so so so so so said, or a let me tell you what I think of the transcript that I didn’t hear witness. Now you got the one guy that didn’t talk to the president and what did we get from testimony today? Very clearly stating in a conversation with Donald Trump that the president said when asked an open ended question what do you want from the Ukrainian leader, the new president – nothing. I don’t want a quid pro quo. I want him to get rid of corruption like he ran on.”
