Two Prominent Republicans Defend Trump’s Claim Impeachment Inquiry Is a ‘Lynching’ (Video)

Prominent Republican members of the House and Senate quickly got in front of news cameras not to denounce President Donald Trump’s vile and racist charge that House Democrats’ formal impeachment inquiry is a “lynching,” but to support those vile remarks barely more than an hour after Trump’s tweet.

U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), as Mediaite reported, defended the President’s remarks.  Asked if calling the impeachment inquiry a “lynching” was “appropriate,” Jordan told reporters “the president’s frustrated.”

Congressman Jordan serves as the Ranking Member of the powerful House Oversight Committee, which is charged with investigating the federal government, including the executive branch.

Senator Lindsey Graham, a Republican of South Carolina, was more specific with his support for President Trump.

“This is a lynching in every sense,” Graham told reporters. He called the impeachment inquiry “a sham, a joke,” and “un-American.”

Senator Graham is the Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which literally is responsible for determining which judges sit on the federal bench, including the U.S. Supreme Court.

The U.S. Constitution clearly assigns the House of Representatives the responsibility of impeachment when it is deemed necessary.
