A federal judge has ordered the U.S. State Dept. to release Ukraine-related communications between Secretary Mike Pompeo and the president’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani within 30 days.
A watchdog group, American Oversight, sued for the records, CNN reports.
Judge Christopher Cooper “said that he could not think of a third party exemption that would prevent the release of correspondence between Giuliani and top State Department officials regarding Ukraine,” meaning executive privilege appears to not be relevant.
“If Mike Pompeo wants to fight so hard to keep [documents] out of the hands of chairman Schiff, we are happy to be in court making that more difficult,” American Oversight Executive Director Austin Evers said Wednesday.
The records could show just how much Secretary of State Pompeo is involved in President Donald Trump’s extortion of Ukraine in an illegal dirt on Joe Biden in exchange for release of $400 million in military aid scheme.
