Trump Jr. Event So ‘Sparsely Attended’ That People Were Asked to Leave Seats and Huddle Around Stage: Reporter

Attendance at a campaign rally for Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin that featured Donald Trump Jr. was so poor on Thursday afternoon that the few people there were asked to leave their seats and crowd around the stage.

Ryland Barton, the statehouse reporter for Kentucky Public Radio, posted a photo on his Twitter account showing the tiny crowd at the event.

“Organizers have asked the audience to move out of the seats and closer to the stage ahead of Trump Jr/ Gov. Bevin event in Pikeville,” he wrote. “I think it’s fair to say this is sparsely attended.”

According to local news station WYMT, Trump Jr. traveled to Eastern Kentucky this week in the hopes of helping Bevin’s reelection campaign.

Bevin, a Tea Party favorite and an ally of President Donald Trump, holds the dubious distinction of being America’s least popular governor. According to the latest polling from Morning Consult, Bevin’s approval in the deep-red state stands at just 32 percent, while his disapproval rating is 56 percent.
