Accused sex trafficker and convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide in a Manhattan jail overnight.
The New York Times reports the convicted sex offender, a financier, who was jailed in 2006 under a highly-controversial and extremely generous plea deal, was found dead in his cell, having hung himself.
Federal prosecutors had charged Epstein with sex trafficking of girls as young as 14.
“Epstein was busted July 6 over the alleged sexual abuse of dozens of young girls in his Upper East Side townhouse and his waterfront mansion in Palm, Beach, Florida, between 2002 and 2005,” the NY Post adds. “He pleaded not guilty and faced up to 45 years in prison.”
He was 66 years old.
