President Donald Trump is trying to distance himself from the massive outrage exhibited after his supporters – taking their cue from his remarks and his tweets all week – chanted “send her back, send her back” at a campaign re-election rally Wednesday night.
The President is now claiming, falsely, that he tried to stop the racist chants attacking Democratic U.S. Congresswoman Ilhan Omar by speaking “very quickly,” which he did not.
In fact, video proves Trump paused and soaked in the fascistic chanting rather than try to stop it.
“It was quite a chant,” Trump said, almost appearing to brag before stopping himself by telling reporters Thursday, “I felt a little bit badly about it.”
He also tried to defend himself by saying, “I didn’t say that, they did.”
“I was not happy with it — I disagree with it,” Trump added, according to The Washington Post, which adds the President “did nothing apparent to discourage the crowd.”
