Roger Stone Violated Gag Order: Prosecutors

Longtime Trump advisor and confidant Roger Stone has violated a judge’s gag order in his criminal case, federal prosecutors charge in a new court filing today.

“In the past several days, Stone posted statements on social media about this case and the special counsel’s investigation and appears to have specifically targeted those posts at major media outlets,” the filing alleges, according to CNN.

Calling it a “a violation of the current conditions of release,” federal prosecutors say that earlier this week Stone “posted to Instagram and Facebook, commenting about this case and inviting news organizations to cover the issue.”

Prosecutors have requested an immediate hearing.

Back in February Judge Amy Berman Jackson barred Stone from using social media to comment on his case, after he posted a photo of her next to what appeared to be gun crosshairs.

CNN notes if the judge sees his posts as a violation of her previous order he could await trial from a jail cell.
