LISTEN: Here’s Trump’s Lawyer Telling Flynn if He ‘Implicates the President Then We’ve Got a National Security Issue’
The FBI has just released an audio recording of President Donald Trump’s lead personal attorney, John Dowd, leaving a warning voicemail for convicted felon Mike Flynn. Flynn was Trump’s National Security Advisor and worked for Trump on the campaign and during the transition.
Flynn’s contacts with the Russians were of such great concern to the FBI that then-Acting Attorney General Sally Yates went to the White House to warn Trump that Flynn was compromised.
Here’s Dowd, who is considered an expert in defending people accused of white collar crimes, on the phone with Flynn.
Dowd tells Flynn that he knows he may have already flipped and reached a deal with Special Counsel Robert Mueller, but if he hasn’t, and “implicates the President, then we’ve got a national security issue.”
He also asks Flynn to give hm “some kind of heads up,” and apparently tries to suggest that Trump has strong feelings of support for Flynn.
Listen:
NEW: Voicemail of Trump’s lawyer calling Mike Flynn’s attorney for a “heads up” on the Mueller case. He says if Flynn “implicates the President, then we’ve got a national security issue…”
A reminder as we wait to hear from Mueller, audio and visuals are always more powerful. pic.twitter.com/VG1PHVeqJs
