House Oversight to Vote on Holding Attorney General Barr in Contempt

House Oversight Chairman Elijah Cummings has just announced his Committee will schedule a vote to hold Attorney General Bill Barr in contempt. Also on the list is Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross.

The contempt votes on both Trump officials are related to their refusal to cooperate with an Oversight Committee investigation into adding a citizenship question to the 2020 census, as Talking Points Memo reports.

Both Barr and Ross have until June 6 to comply with the Committee’s request, after which a vote will be scheduled if they do not.

Last week a bombshell was revealed: the man behind the citizenship question, who is now deceased, had admitted the goal of including the question was to help Republicans and non-Hispanic whites.
