Trump Spends ‘A Lot of the Day’ Making Up Cruel Nicknames for 2020 Democratic Challengers: Report
President Donald Trump speaks frequently about his potential Democratic challengers, but his aides and associates can’t agree on which candidate poses the biggest threat to him.
However, they all agree the election will come down to four states — Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — where former Vice President Joe Biden appears strong, reported Politico.
“He talks a lot about it,” said someone who knows Trump. “With Trump, everything is personal, so for Trump, a lot of the day is spent trying to assess the weaknesses of the other candidates.”
The president isn’t too worried about Elizabeth Warren, whom he believes he destroyed with his “Pocahontas” slur, or Beto O’Rourke, whom he dismissed as a “joke.”
“Occasionally he’ll comment on one or another — ‘Crazy Bernie,’ ‘Sleepy Joe,’” the source told Politico.
“Trump believes that if you can encapsulate someone in a phrase or a nickname, you can own them,” that source said. “’Low-energy Jeb,’ ‘Little Marco’ — that kind of sh*t really diminishes people and puts you in control of them, and that’s what Trump is a genius for doing.”
That source said the president is most worried about the economy faltering before the election, rather than any particular challenger.
“The president looks at it as his main threat is the Federal Reserve,” the person said.
One person who knows Trump doesn’t think he’s worried about losing to any of the Democratic candidates, but another source said he may be overconfident.
“Trump has a very bad sense of danger,” that person said.
