Trump Quotes Poll That Also Shows ‘Mueller Is More Trusted Than the President and the Attorney General’
President Donald Trump launched an early morning rant on Friday, tweeting out a wide variety of claims and threats while again attacking former FBI Director Jim Comey, again falsely claiming his presidential campaign was “spied on,” and again calling that act “treason” while promising “long jail sentences” for the perpetrators.
Apparently quoting his favorite television show, “Fox & Friends,” Trump suggested there had been a battle between him and his former FBI Director, whom he fired. Trump claims he “won,” but his firing of Comey – which he said on national television was due to the Russia investigation – directly resulted in the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
Trump also pointed to a Fox News poll that shows “A majority (58 percent) thinks it is at least somewhat likely the FBI broke the law when it first started investigating the Trump campaign.”
That same poll, as the right wing Newsmax, run by Trump BFF Chris Ruddy reports, shows “disdain for President Donald Trump and Attorney General William Barr.” Newsmax also says that poll finds “45% of voters describe Barr’s behavior as ‘covering up’ the report, while 33% say he is ‘being transparent.'”
The Fox News poll also found “Mueller is more trusted than the president and the attorney general.”
After his circus-like outbursts of tweets yelling “DRAIN THE SWAMP!” and “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump repeatedly yelled “TREASON!”
“My Campaign for President was conclusively spied on,” Trump lied. In fact, the DOJ inspector general investigated Trump’s claim and could find no evidence his campaign had, as he claimed, its “wires tapped.”
“Nothing like this has ever happened in American Politics,” Trump claimed, ignoring the existence of Watergate. “A really bad situation. TREASON means long jail sentences, and this was TREASON!”
There was no spying on Trump’s campaign, and even if there were, it would not be treason. Neither his campaign nor Trump are the federal government, despite his repeated claims to the contrary.
