‘President’s Actions Were Inherently Corrupt’ Says Lone Republican to Call Trump’s Conduct ‘Impeachable’

Crimes Were Committed ‘On Trump’s Behalf’ Says Amash

U.S. Congressman Justin Amash (R-MI) is once again defending his claim that President Donald Trump “engaged in impeachable conduct” with his third Twitter thread, this one 20-tweets long.

Amash is under major attack from the GOP, despite being ranked as one of the most conservative members of Congress. He is even a founding member of the Freedom Caucus – the most far-right group in the House.

Thursday afternoon Amash tweeted that the Mueller report “revealed criminal activities, some of which were committed by people in Trump’s orbit and, in the case of Michael Cohen’s campaign finance violation, on Trump’s behalf.”

While totally true, it is a charge Republicans have refused to accept.

“After Trump assumed the powers of the presidency, Mueller’s report shows that he used those powers to try to obstruct and impede the investigation,” Amash adds.

Here he explains why Trump should be impeached:

And he also offers six solid examples of Trump “obstructing and impeding” the Mueller investigation, including, asking “the FBI director to stop investigating Michael Flynn,” and Trump directly asking then- Attorney General Jeff Sessions “to reverse his recusal so that he could retain control over the investigation and help the president.”

In response to breaking from the Republican Party’s policy of defending President Trump above all else, Amash was formally condemned by the Freedom Caucus, and lost all funding from the DeVos family, which includes the Secretary of Education.
