Pete Buttigieg Gets Standing Ovation at Fox News Town Hall Where He Calls Trump’s Reality Presidency ‘Grotesque’

Pete Buttigieg ignored the criticisms of some of his fellow Democrats and participated in a Fox News town hall Sunday night with the right wing network’s top anchor, Chris Wallace.
The South Bend, Indiana mayor who is consistently third in the polls, was repeatedly cheered and applauded, and – to a much surprised Chris Wallace – given a standing ovation at the end.
But it was his remarks defending his decision to go on Fox News, his defense of the Democratic platform, and his attacks on President Donald Trump that earned him the cheers and applause that led to that standing ovation.
Buttigieg called the Trump reality TV show presidency “grotesque,” saying, “I don’t care” about Trump’s tweets, which destroyed the President’s most effective communication tool – especially because the audience cheered in agreement.
“I get it, it’s mesmerizing, it’s hard for anybody to look away – me too,” but explaining that “it is the nature of grotesque things that you can’t look away.”
Surprisingly, given that it was Fox News, he was greeted with cheers, laughter, and applause.
Ovation after ovation for @PeteButtigieg:
Chris Wallace: How would you handle the tweets?
Buttigieg: “The tweets are– I don’t care.”CW: But his tweets are an effective way to reach people.

But he followed up that slam against Trump by explaining what Democrats stand for, and that Republicans’ positions are “unpopular.”
Buttigieg insisted that Democrats “have to find people where they are,” be it in their hometowns, or on Fox News. But he also blasted Fox News’ racist hosts, including Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham.
If you must appear on Fox News, then calling out Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham *by name* while doing so is exactly how to do it.pic.twitter.com/C5E3NEouCZ

And here’s the ending, where he received a standing ovation:
Yikes. If Trump was mad at @FoxNews for hosting @PeteButtigieg’s Town Hall, he’s gonna be even more infuriated when he watches them give him a standing ovation (something Trump has quite literally never received). pic.twitter.com/0QA9mkATiU
