Watch: White House Spokesperson Calls Puerto Rico ‘That Country’ in Lie-Filled Off-the-Rails Interview

The Trump administration’s gaslighting of America on Puerto Rico continues as White House Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley made a rare appearance on MSNBC and proceeded to tell so many lies that anchor Hallie Jackson was forced to stop him to say, “these are things that are not true.”

Among the things that are not true were Gidley not once but twice calling Puerto Rico “that country.”

As most people outside of the White House know, Puerto Rico is not a foreign country. It is a U.S. territory. Puerto Ricans are U.S. citizens – but are deprived of the right to vote in federal elections.

But Gidely’s “slip of the tongue” – along with his other lies throughout the interview perfectly echo President Donald Trump’s recent remarks. Those remarks include Trump’s early Monday morning lie that “Puerto Rico got 91 Billion Dollars for the hurricane, more money than has ever been gotten for a hurricane before.”

Puerto Rico has not been given $91 billion. In fact, not even close – and far less than Texas and Florida did for the 2017 hurricanes.
