It took just hours for Warner Brothers to threaten a lawsuit after President Donald Trump posted an insane campaign re-election video that stole the music from Christopher Nolan’s Batman film, “The Dark Knight Rises.”
“The use of Warner Bros.’ score from ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ in the campaign video was unauthorized,” a Warner Brothers spokesperson said in a statement, as Variety reports. “We are working through the appropriate legal channels to have it removed.”
After the lawsuit threat the video was quickly removed from Twitter, just hours after Trump posted it, tweeting, “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.” It had garnered nearly 3 million views.
The response to the Trump 2020 video, which appeared to brag about Trump being racist, was anger and mockery, and confusion.
On social media, many noted the theft of composer Hans Zimmer’s song, “Why Do We Fall?” – and that it was likely lifted without permission.
The strange video, which included images of former President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and even Rosie O’Donnell, featured this admission: “First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they call you racist.”
Variety notes even the font used was from “The Dark Knight Rises.”
