Mitch McConnell Re-Election Campaign Launch Brags About Stealing Obama’s Supreme Court Nominee’s Seat

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has just launched a campaign re-election video and website that focuses on his theft of a U.S. Supreme Court seat. Sen. McConnell blocked any and all votes for President Barack Obama’s nominee to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia, Judge Merrick Garland, in what many believe was an unconstitutional abuse of power.

The 3-minute video almost mocks President Barack Obama, showing him telling the American people all he wants is for an “up or down” vote” on his SCOTUS nominee.

As ThinkProgress and others noted, McConnell “launched his 2020 re-election bid by highlighting his own partisan obstruction…just weeks after McConnell penned an op-ed for Politico, in which he railed against ‘historic obstruction’ and ‘partisan delays’ from Democrats.”

Even the website mocks his theft of the Supreme Court seat. The “404” page visitors find when they are looking for a page not found has a photo of Judge Garland, with the caption, “Oops This Page Doesn’t Exist, But just in case, go donate and make sure it doesn’t come back,” implying Garland would be re-nominated again under a Democratic president and Democratic-controlled Senate.
